I failed my goal of reading 70 books this year. I've read 57 books in the year of 2011. Here's the last bunch of them.

Fire (Seven Kingdoms 2) by Kristin Cashore
4/5  -great           fantasy, mature, love, adventure, period

It is not a peaceful time in the Dells. The young King Nash clings to his throne while rebel lords in the north and south build armies to unseat him. The mountains and forests are filled with spies and thieves and lawless men.

This is where Fire lives. With a wild, irresistible appearance and hair the color of flame, Fire is the last remaining human monster. Equally hated and adored, she has the unique ability to control minds, but she guards her power, unwilling to steal the secrets of innocent people. Especially when she has so many of her own.

Then Prince Brigan comes to bring her to King City. The royal family needs her help to uncover the plot against the king. Far away from home, Fire begins to realize there's more to her power than she ever dreamed. Her power could save the kingdom.

If only she weren't afraid of becoming the monster her father was.

You Against Me by Jenny Downham
3/5  -good         alternative views, angst, contemporary, family, love, mature, realistic fiction, social issues

If someone hurts your sister and you're any kind of man, you seek revenge, right? If your brother's been accused of a terrible crime and you're the main witness, then you banish all doubt and defend him. Isn't that what families do? When Mikey's sister claims a boy assaulted her at a party, his world of work and girls begins to fall apart. When Ellie's brother is charged with the crime, but says he didn't do it, her world of revision, exams and fitting in at a new school begins to unravel. When Mikey and Ellie meet, two worlds collide. Brave and unflinching, this is a novel of extraordinary skillfulness and almost unbearable tension. It's a book about loyalty and the choices that come with it. But above all it's a book about love - for one's family and for another.

The Unwritten Rule by Elizabeth Scott
4/5  -great          angst, love, beach read, coming of age, high school, teeny bopper, multiple reads

He's looking at me like—well, like he wants to look at me. Like he likes what he sees, and he's smiling and his eyes are so blue, even in the faint flow of the porch light they shine, and I nod dumbly, blindly, and then grope for the door handle, telling myself to look away and yet not able to do it.

"Sara," he says, softly, almost hesitantly, and my heart slam-bangs, beating hard, and this is what it's like to want someone you can't have. To want someone you shouldn't even be looking at.

Sarah and Brianna have always been friends, and it's always gone like this: guys talk to Sarah in order to get closer to Brianna. So even though Sarah met Ryan first, she's not surprised that he ends up with Brianna (even though Sarah has a massive crush on him).

The three of them hang out, and Sarah and Ryan's friendship grows until one night an innocent exchange between them leads to a moment that makes Sarah realize that Ryan might be interested in her after all. But if there's one unwritten rule, it's this: you don't mess around with a friend's boyfriend.

So Sarah tries to resist temptation. But with the three of them thrown together more and more, tension builds between Sarah and Ryan, and when they find themselves alone together at one point, they realize they just can't fight how they feel anymore...

Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen
2/5  -okay        angst, coming of age, family, high school, social issues

Halley has always followed in the wake of her best friend, Scarlett. But when Scarlett learns that her boyfriend has been killed in a motorcycle accident, and that she's carrying his baby, she's devastated. For the first time ever, Scarlett really needs Halley. Their friendship may bend under the weight, but it'll never break--because a true friendship is a promise you keep forever.

The OC: The Misfit by Aury Wallington and Cory Martin
1/5  -bad        alternate views, tv, angst, family, funny, high school, love, pop culture, social issues, teeny bopper

Must-see TV becomes gotta-have-it teen read!

Break the Rules . . . Or Make Some New Ones

Seth Cohen has grown up among the beautiful rich kids, but he's never been one of them. Cohen? He's the geek, the weirdo, the misfit. But not anymore. Suddenly Seth's got a friend, Ryan Atwood, who's got his back. The popular girl next door, Marisa Cooper, is talking to him. And he's got not one but two girls on the line. Seth's not playing by the same rules anymore, in fact, he's out to break them all.

From the beaches to the boutiques to the parties, what you wear and what you drive matters more than who you are--welcome to the O.C

--------------

The only reason I could read this was because I have seen the show so much. I took me back, and even moments that were horribly written (which was the whole book) like when Seth swept Summer off her feet, I couldn't help but smiling picturing Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson dancing to 'Wonderwall'.

This is the fourth OC book I've read and I feel like they make Marissa a more sympathetic character than the show's portrayal of her.

My number one complaint though is Seth saying that Anna was his first kiss! When we all know it was Summer! By the pool! At his grandfather's party!

I've decided to broaden my horizons when it comes to movies and books. I'm really a movie snob so I've decided to maybe listen to popular opinion, maybe even critical acclaim, and watch some things I wouldn't normally be thrilled about. According to every -and I do mean every- year end list Despicable Me and Tangled were huge hits, so Netflix it is.

Despicable Me
2010         5/5  -just wonderful

He is going to steal the moon. (Yes, the moon!) Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. Crazy Stupid Love
2011          4/5  -cool

Water for Elephants
2011          3/5  -worth watching
Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz

After his parents' death, Jacob Jankoski is left penniless and homeless. Events lead him to joining the circus as their vet, working under their unstable boss August whose violent tendencies give everyone reason to be cautious around him, including his beautiful and quiet wife Marlena, whom August is very possessive of and who Jacob finds himself soon falling in love with.

Changeling
2008          3/5  -worth watching
Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich, Jeffrey Donovan

Los Angeles, 1928. A single mother returns from work to find her nine-year-old son gone. She calls the LAPD to initiate a search. Five months later, a boy is found in Illinois who fits the description; he says he's her son. To fanfare and photos, the LAPD reunite mother and son, but she insists he's not her boy. The cops dismiss her as either a liar or hysterical. When she joins a minister in his public criticism of the police, they in turn use government power to silence and intimidate her. Meanwhile, a cop goes to a dilapidated ranch to find a Canadian lad who's without legal status; the youth tells a grisly tale. There's redress for murder; is there redress for abuse of power?

As for books, I'm going to go the classic route. Not abandoning YA or paranormal romance, but just add some stuff everyone has/should read. I don't know who decides what everyone should read. The Great Gatsby, Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, The Outsiders. I'm not going to be intimidated with this old English, or whatever you call it, or the length of a book. I am going to buy books that intimidate me though, especially if the length is daunting to me. That way the library isn't going to pressure me.

I guess it just depends who you ask.

My brother actually told me that Dr. Jears and Benjamin Linus are one in the same. I took great offense to that! I gasped out loud and my jaw literally dropped. How could one say such a thing?

The very first award was Favorite Movie Actress. They announced the nominees; Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, and Reese Witherspoon. I announced Emma Stone, they announced Emma Stone, my dad says, "You were right."

I was kinda surprised that Water for Elephants won for Favorite Drama Movie.

The acceptance speech for the Bridesmaids group was very cute. I giggled, and yes, I did sing along.

I would really like to know what America sees in a highly untalented, unfunny man as Adam Sandler. I honestly just want someone to sit down with me and explain it.

What is this category Favorite Ensemble Movie Cast? Isn't every movie an ensemble cast?

Supernatural won Favorite Network TV Drama. That's a big category, is it not? And it was simply mentioned as almost a filler. Why no recognition? And then I found out...Jensen Ackles and Jared Padelecki were not even invited to the show! What a slap in the face!

I really like that they had separate awards for network and cable shows.

Another filler, Castle won Favorite TV Crime drama! They actually handed the award to Stana Katic at her seat!

I thought the world was mad at Kim Kardashian? But she still won Favorite Reality Star.

I'm so happy Fringe was nominated for Favorite Sci-fi/Fantasy Show. Even though it didn't win, let's face it, Supernatural's rabid fanbase prevented that, it is at least being recognized. Nina Dobrev said she wasn't originally nominated, but people wrote in and she won. So let's all take a second to write to these award shows about Anna Torv and John Noble.

I liked all three of Kaley Cuoco's white dresses. Not so much the others. Host has got to be the greatest job! You get so many dress changes!

Jen Lawrence has a very risky dress there. I was shocked at first glance, thinking it was so revealing. It's a very interesting pattern.

Alyson Hannigan looks pretty nice. I like the detailing of this dress. It's not very flattering in the armpit area, maybe try some sleeve.

This is what newcomer, Jane Levy chose to wear to her just about first red carpet appearance? The top looks like a sports bra and the bottom looks Amish. And those colors? Together?

Nina Dobrev is usually the little fashionista, but I do not like this. The body of the dress is nice. It's not too much cleavage and it's a nice hemline. The lace detailing and sleeves are horrible!

When I firs saw Kristen Bell I thought she looked cute. The rouching at the neckline is amazing! Then the camera panned out and revealed her pleather skirt! What was she thinking? This could have been a fabulous little lacey dress...

Let's bring on some more pleather, Ashley Greene! This is too much. I normally very much like the lace up to the neck look, but the pattern of the lace is way too large to make this pretty.

I've come to learn that Lucy Hale is a bit of a risk taker, but this just looks weird. I don't understand why she would want to wear a dress that has such an odd, disproportionate design. It only makes her body look odd and disproportionate.

I'm not sure what Miley is trying to do here. This actually could have been cute. The draping down the front is pretty, and the netting down the bust is cool, but that's where the good stops. Something is happening with the bottom of her dress that is so the complete opposite of cute. I don't even know how to explain that mess. Her hair is weird too and she's wearing too much bad makeup, it barely even looks like her. Her shoes are cute.

I think that Kat Dennings looks a little third grade recital. I do respect her, though, for not shoving her boobs in everyone's face. Because that girl has major boobage!

Beth Behrs looks good. It's a little short, but it holds her chest nicely. The pattern on the fabric is great and the detailing at the waist is wonderful.

I love Demi Lovato's dress! I think she could use a little more fabric up top, but this princess dress is fantastic! The draping and the rouching is amazing and the beads in the front are a great detail. And the train! If you can pull off a train on a dress that isn't for that special day, you should. You always should.

I like that Chloe Moretz is age appropriate and not so obvious. Those shoes are awesome!

I really like Ellie Kemper's dress. It's simple and pretty, and the pattern prevents it from being boring. It's a great spin on the little black dress. It looks like it could be a tad more fitted near the armpit, and those shoes don't match.

I can respect Jennifer Morrison for what she attempted, but this is a horrible fail! Unfortunately for her, someone else had this same vision and got it oh so right. What is the hair? That is not a hairstyle! The looks like the crazy little bun you put your in stepping out of the shower.

This dress is too much! Too much pink. Too much fabric. Too much sleeve. What exactly are those big puffy pieces, Ginnifer Goodwin? Who tricked you into doing that? It's even too much shoe.

Let's try to ignore the disco ball that is Sharon Osbourne.

My focus is Kelly. Let's all take a moment to get over the old lady hair that she voluntarily did to herself. This dress could actually be amazingly retro if the hemline were raised. If the skirt ended just above the knee, it would have been my best dressed....maybe.

Is it just me or does Vanessa Hudgins get sluttier and sluttier every time you see her? And the crazy thing is, I think she tries to do this. The spider webbing on this dress is terrible, the netting at the bust just looks weird, and the dress is too long.

It's a rare thing to have men on my fashion list. Men just don't get fashion the way women do. Not saying that they can't understand, but a man's choice for fashion is basically tie or no tie. Maybe a bowtie? Anyway, Ian Somerhalder looks absolutely dashing. The color of his suit is wonderful! Even though he does look amazing here, I get the feeling that Ian is a real creeper. And he just keeps getting more unattractive.

The Best

This is how a flapper dress should look. I hate you, Lea Michelle, you annoy me to no end. But you know how to bring the fashion, so thank you.

Stana Katic looks incredible! This dress perfectly fits her body and it's not so revealing even though there is a lot of fabric missing at the top. She could stand to improve her posture though.

Emma Stone looks outstanding! She really prooved that you don't need a dress to look amazing on the red carpet. I just about drooled at the sight of that jacket with the chain.

She said goodbye too many times before.

Let's compare scars; I'll tell you who's is worst.

Finished season six of Supernatural. A little late, because season seven is on tv now. We'll have to wait for the dvd. So we ended with Castiel becoming God. WTF? He is in wayy over his head! I suspect he isn't going to make it...he's going to die. I think that Castiel's vessel, trench coat man, isn't strong enough to be God and will therefore start to deteriorate the way Lucifer's vessel, Jacob, did when he couldn't get Sammy.

I find myself utterly disappointed with Fringe, every time the credits aren't blue, my heart drops. There's a reason for hope for me though. I watched the first three seasons of Fringe on dvd, I watched episode after episode with no waiting. When season three started and Olivia was stuck in the redverse, that must have been months of the story, with the people at home waiting and waiting for Olivia to come back. Peter will get back to his time and we will have plenty of new and interesting episodes with the original Fringe team. I have faith. I hated the end of the last episode though. It seemed so melodramatic for Fringe, and kind of like they were grasping at straws. I came to a realization last night, while watching.

I posted this confession, and I was all shippy about it. I came to an understanding that it isn't even about Peter and Olivia. It is obviously, but not in a lovey dovey way. Olivia loves Peter. When I think about all of the absolute horror Olivia has been through, and that she has finally found someone she can go to and open up to and trust, it makes me happy for her. If Peter doesn't say 'I love you,' I think I might want to strangle him.

I watched Pride&Prejudice again for the millionth time. I haven't read the book yet, and I haven't seen any of the other movies or shows. Matthew McFayden is Mr. Darcy and Keira Knightley is Elizabeth. I wonder if this movie comes across the same as other versions, at least to me. Really, I guess what I'm saying is that I can't tell if Matthew's acting gets to me, or if this is what I'm supposed to feel. I feel like Elizabeth Bennet is a bitch. Darcy is quite obviously extraordinarily shy and vulnerable and broken and Elizabeth just laughs at him. I don't like it.

What does it mean when you leave and I follow?

I'm gonna be honest here, I haven't seen any of these movies or most of the tv shows. Still celebrities and fashion and awards are my weakness. I laugh (William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman), I cry (Michelle Williams), I explain to my brother why they can't play the wrap up music on Meryl Streep, I explain to my dad that it's always George Clooney. Basically it's hard to really have an opinion when I don't know why they did or didn't win.

So here are the winners:
Best Actor, Drama - George Clooney; The Descendants --I do want to see this movie, but who knows when I actually will.
Best Actress, Drama - Meryl Streep; The Iron Lady
Best Actor, Musical or Comedy - Jean Dujardin; The Artist
Best Director - Martin Scorsese; Hugo
Best Actress, Musical or Comedy - Michelle Williams; My Week With Marilyn --I might see this..probably.
Best Supporting Actor - Christopher Plummer; Beginners
Best Supporting Actress - Octavia Spencer; The Help --This is at the top of my Netflix queue. There is a very long wait.
Best Foreign Language Film - A Separation
Best Animated Film - The Adventures of Tintin
Best Screenplay - Woody Allen; Midnight in Paris
Best Original Score - Ludovic Bource; The Artist
Best Original Song - 'Masterpiece', (music and lyrics by Madonna, Julie Frost, Jimmy Harry); W.E.

Best Series, Drama - Homeland, Showtime
Best Series, Musical or Comedy - Modern Family, ABC
Best Actor, Drama - Kelsey Grammer; Boss
Best Actress, Drama - Claire Danes; Homeland
Best Actress, Musical or Comedy - Laura Dern; Enlightened
Best Actor, Musical or Comedy - Matt LeBlanc; Episodes
Best Miniseries or Movie  - Downton Abbey (Masterpiece), PBS
Best Actress, Miniseries or Movie - Kate Winslet; Mildred Pierce
Best Actor, Miniseries or Movie - Idris Elba; Luther
Best Supporting Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie - Jessica Lange; American Horror Story
Best Supporting Actor, Series, Miniseries or Movie - Peter Dinklage; Game of Thrones

Now for the fashion:

Reese Witherspoon's dress is pretty. The bust fits beautifully. Her hair could use a little work though, it looks messy.

I'm not a fan of Rooney Mara's dress. I really don't like the cut outs down the torso and the skirt is just plain and boring.

I don't know how I feel about Salma Hayek's dress. I like the skirt, I like sparkle. I don't really like the geometric pattern at the bust.

Sarah Hyland looks very pretty. I love the nude dress with the black lace around the waist. The dress fits her perfectly.

I really don't like Sarah Michelle Geller's dress. It almost makes me feel bad because I adore her, but who wears tie-dye on the red carpet?

I really like the Sofia Vergara isn't showing off her boobs!lol I kind of like how the fabric changes with the mermaid tail, it looks very interesting. I don't like her hair, way too flat.

I like Shailene Woodley's dress...mostly. I would love it, but I think the bust is wayyy too low! The dress is really very pretty. The color and the draping is lovely. The material and the pattern is wonderful. My favorite though is the detailing at the bust, the little triangle of fabric is so pretty! Like I said though, too low. The bust line should be even with the top of her armpits, and the triangle should be slanting up toward the collarbone. I'm also very disappointed with these pictures. The dress didn't photograph as well as what it looked like on the red carpet.

This dress is very unflattering on Tina Fey. The attempt at the mermaid tail is a fail and it's just too much fabric for her.

I find Zooey Deschanel's dress is very interesting to look at. The beading at the top is odd, but it works at the same time. Her hair was driving me crazy! She has these weird girlish, layered sideburns. Just looking at them made my face itchy. I wanted to brush them out of the way and I wanted Ryan Seacrest to comment on her hair.

Viola Davis looked very pretty, her hair and make up both look great. I like the dress, the color goes great with her skin, the draping is pretty. I really like the knot at the shoulder, but I hate the slit.

Amanda Peet looks ridiculous in this layered ruffle dress. It''s so horrible! It looks like one of those old fashion porcelain dolls, but like she's trying to update the look with the whole one shoulder thing.

Angelina Jolie looked beautiful! The dress was so chic and I love the gathering at the waist. It's so pretty and the pop of color really made the whole look come together.

Ariel Winter looked so adorable! This is like the ultimate dress that any 14 year old girl would want to wear. So cuute!

I really like Calista Flockhart's dress! I think it's very pretty and classic.

Charlize Theron's look confused me a little bit. Her hair and make up is very clean and pretty. The color of the dress is nice and I love the super low vee. The jewel at the waist is also pretty. The skirt of the dress is what confused me. I'm not a huge fan of the slit, but I think it works. I kind of go back and forth with the huge bow at the waist. I don't know if I like it or not.

Kate Winslet was pretty and classy as always. Gorgeous.

Amber Riley's hair and make up looks very natural and very lovely. I like her dress, I am a fan of the little ruffles across the bust and down the torso. The gathering at the waist doesn't look so hot, a little messy.

I like Debra Messing's look. The dress fits wonderfully and the skirt flows out nicely without being too much.

Claire Danes was one of my best dressed predictions and she did not disappoint. It's definitely an over the shoulder dress, but the front was nothing to sneeze at. It's so pretty!

I didn't like the shoulder pads of the belt on Emma Stone's dress, but other than that it's good. I really like to two tones of the purple, and look at the skirt. It looks so wispy and flow-y, love it!

Jodie Foster's dress is a mess. It has no shape to it at all.

I don't really get Dianna Agron's dress. I think the swan thing is just weird. And the skirt is just ugly.

I don't think Julianna Margulies is quite pulling this look off. Too much front and not enough back showing. Plus, it's just the wrong color.

Evan Rachel Wood is so pretty. Her make up looks amazing, especially her lips. Her dress is pretty, I love how it sparkles at the top and turns more into a matte at the skirt. The shear fabric at the shoulders is very pretty.

I don't know what is going on  with that little ruffle skirt thing. That's weird.

Jessica Biel looks so frumpy. Just adding a simple vee neck would improve this.

Kate Beckinsale is always gorgeous. The fit of this dress is amazing and I really love the structure of the bust. It shows great cleavage, but it doesn't shove boobs in everyone's face. Her earrings are great!

Katherine McPhee is such a pretty girl! Her hair always looks so natural. Her dress is fabulous!! It's so pretty! The shape, the color, the fabric and pattern, the bust line, the tea length skirt, it is all just perfect. I want this dress!

Not a fan of Frida Pinto's dress. The material looks weird to me. He hair is very pretty.

I feel Kelly Osbourne's dress would have been nicer if it was a shorter. I really do like the shoulders. I wish she would change her hair already!

I like the metallic look of Lea Michelle's dress. The cut outs on the torso are so pretty. This seems to be a trend now, but the color of the dress really does make all the difference. I don't like the earrings, I think they're too big for her head.

Paula Patton looks great. The bold color of the dress really stands out. It fits very well, and the mermaid tail is amazing.

I love Michelle Williams, but I don't always agree with her fashion choices. That being said, I like the color and the two tone coloring, but I personally hate the look of velvet. I'm a headband girl though, and I love that she is too.

I really love Melissa Mcarthey's hair!

I don't like the top of Mila Kunis' dress. I actually the asymmetrical shoulder, and it's way too sheer looking. The skirt is pretty.

I don't think that Natalie Portman's dress fits that well. I don't like the color on her either.

I like the color of Callie Thorn's dress, and the contrast between that and the red bag is great.

Nicole Kidman had an interesting choice here. I do like the beading detail all down the front of the dress. I'm not crazy about the detailing at the bust.

The color of Octavia Spencer's dress is so pretty. The bunching at the waist is great, but I really love the flow-y sleeves.

I didn't so much like Jessica Alba's dress. There's not a great ship to this dress, I think the detailing looks a little messy from a distance. The beading looks much prettier up close.

Nicole Ricci decided to take this red carpet as an opportunity to try something new. She wore a metal dress, and I love it! Her hair is very pretty too. She is wearing too much eyeliner though.

I love Kristen Wiig's hair. It stands out so much. I like her dress. I like the nude color and the super deep vee with a small bust. The knot looks nice. Honestly I didn't see her on the red carpet and I don't know what the bottom of this dress looks like.

Sarah Paulson's dress is so pretty in my opinion. I love the detail of the cinch waist and those sleeves actually make the dress for me.

Not a fan of Jessica Chastain's dress. I don't even know what to call those little details..the dot things. It looks like smallpox.

Julie Bowen said that she went with the, "girl look tonight." I'm so disappointed with a lot of the red carpet pictures because the nude colored dresses didn't photograph well. The beading actually makes up for the capped sleeves on this dress.

Naya Rivera's make up is so pretty and natural. I'm not crazy about the hair. I like this dress a lot. The back is sexy with that strip down the spine, and the front if modest and fashiony.

I've been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you.

I don't think my hair is healthy anymore. I don't know when this happened, but it seems to have stopped growing. I don't know what to do about this or how I damaged it. I don't use any kind of product and never have, I don't use the curling iron or flat iron, I don't even blow dry. Basically it's shampoo and conditioner for me. And it's not even new stuff, the same kind I've been using for years and years. I'm baffled.

I had a dream where a bunch of us were at Steak and Shake and we were sitting and sitting. People kept coming in and getting their orders before us, leaving before we got our food. I was pissed. I yelled at our waitress, like seriously screamed. I've never yelled at anyone in my life.

I was watching Friends last night, 'TOW The Bullies'. I haven't seen that one in forever so I watched even though it was passed my bedtime. The scene with the dog, where it's half in the window, was so hilarious to me. I laughed out loud and seriously laughed for like five minutes straight. My stomach hurt and I couldn't breathe. You know that feeling you get after a good cry? Just totally relaxed and relieved that it's all out? That's what it felt like. Except without the unpleasantness of all the tears. Here's the clip

Can you imagine how much I love you?

Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere.

You're the crescendo to that melody I love.

You and me could write a bad romance.

Never Let Me Go
2010      3/5  -worth watching
Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley, Andrew Garfield

As children, Ruth, Kathy and Tommy, spend their childhood at a seemingly idyllic English boarding school. As they grow into young adults, they find that they have to come to terms with the strength of the love they feel for each other, while preparing themselves for the haunting reality that awaits them.
----
This movie was nothing what I expected! I thought I was watching this sweet story about lifelong friends. What I got was this twisted story in this weird sci-fi/dystopian world. It kind of reminded my of the book Unwing by Neal Shusterman. I liked it, I cried in the end.

Super 8
2011      5/5  -just wonderful
Kyle Chandler, Joel Courtney, Elle Fanning, Riley Griffiths

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
----
This movie was awesome! It pretty much had everything a great movie should have, and those kids were amazing! I recommend it to everyone.

Tangled
2010        5/5  -just wonderful
Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi

This movie was so cute and funny. I have no problem accepting Rapunzel as a new Disney princess! And that girl has a great ass!lol

Sweet November
2001     1/5  -bad
Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron

Nelson is a man devoted to his advertising career in San Francisco. One day, while taking a driving test at the DMV, he meets Sara. She is very different from the other women in his life. Nelson causes her to miss out on taking the test and later that day she tracks him down. One thing leads to another and Nelson ends up living with her through a November that will change his life forever.
----
Spoiler Alert! This is an unbelievably unrealistic premise, but being the romantic that I am I thought it sounded good. I was wrong. And I honestly blame Keanu Reeves. Who cast him? The man is a horrible actor, it was hard to watch him try and make this role look good. I know that the Christmas thing was supposed to be romantic, but it was just weird. And the lounge singer thing was weird too. Then end was just bullshit. I can't believe he just let her go like that.

Identity
2003     2/5  -nothing special
John Cusack, Ray Liotta, Amanda Peet

Strangers from all different walks of life: a limo driver escorting a fading television star, parents with a young son whose marriage is in crisis, a cop transporting a dangerous convict, a beautiful call girl, a couple of young newlyweds, and a nervous motel manager are caught up in a severe rainstorm, stuck at a motel in desolate Nevada. Soon they realize they may be at the motel for another reason when one by one, people start getting killed off. As tensions flare and fingers are pointed, they have to get to the bottom of why they're there. Meanwhile in an undisclosed location, a psychiatrist is trying to prove the innocence of a man accused of murder in an eleventh hour trial. How these two through-lines are related can only be found in Identity.
----
Spoiler alert! I didn't like this movie all that much. Mostly because I felt the beginning gave away the ending rather then having that aha! moment at the end. Like I wasn't supposed to immediately know who's voice that was on the tape recorder?

It's a crazy thing though, thinking that all those people had lives and backgrounds and memories, but none of them actually existed. It kind of makes you think.

Of course, that is if you can get passed all the psychological errors concerning multiple personality disorder.

Burlesque
2010       1/5  -bad
Christina Aguilera, Cher, Stanley Tucci, Cam Gigandet, Kristen Bell

The Burlesque Lounge has its best days behind it. Tess, a retired dancer and owner of the venue, struggles to keep the aging theater alive, facing all kinds of financial and artistic challenges. With the Lounge's troupe members becoming increasingly distracted by personal problems and a threat coming from a wealthy businessman's quest to buy the spot from Tess, the good fortune seems to have abandoned the club altogether. Meanwhile, the life of Ali, a small-town girl from Iowa, is about to change dramatically. Hired by Tess as a waitress at the Lounge, Ali escapes a hollow past and quickly falls in love with the art of burlesque. Backed by newfound friends amongst the theater's crew, she manages to fulfill her dreams of being on stage herself. Things take a dramatic turn though when Ali's big voice makes her become the main attraction of the revue.
----
This movie didn't quite satisify my musical needs. I didn't go download the soundtrack after watching. I couldn't decide if Cam Gigandet was a good guy or a bad guy. He is a hott guy though. I didn't think Kristen Bell fit in this movie. Don't get me wrong, I really do like her, but she just didn't seem like the right fit to me.

Lifetime movies are always bad. Despite knowing this there are always a few that I can't not watch.

I've always liked Kim Kardashian...and the whole klan really. She (they) may not be the role model that some people feel she should take the responsibility of being, but I like her. I've watched them from the beginning and I think that they're real and don't pretend for the cameras. I never believed that Kim did this wedding for publicity or money or anything other than love. Maybe it was a total impulse and she and Hump never had any real conversations about the future, but it wasn't fake. For her anyway. After watching Kim and Kourtney Take New York I don't believe him at all. It doesn't even seem like he likes her, it seemed like he couldn't even stand being in the same room as her. After watching Khloe's and Kourtney's reactions to Kim saying she didn't want to be married, I started to doubt. They just didn't seem to care and they just had these blank faces when Kim was talking to them about it. Maybe it was all just a sham.

I watched two new shows; Alcatraz and Touch. I had hopes for Alcatraz, not so much Touch. I new what was up with both shows, though. They're trying to be the new LOST. Alcatraz is this big mystery that the prison didn't actually shut down, but all of the prisoners disappeared. And now they're coming back. That isn't even the focus of the show! There have been four episodes and there is nothing mysterious happening. It's basically yet another cop show. As for Touch, how desperately was that trying to be LOST? The numbers? But does anyone remember those numbers? I didn't even remember them during the show. But I still know 4 8 15 16 23.

Waking up next to nothing after dreaming of you and me.

Amber Heard is a very pretty girl! The dress is sexy and the peek-a-boo slits are great.I love the structured shoulders too. Her makeup is amazing, love the nude lip. Her hair looks great.

Amber Riley looks pretty disastrous. The dress is horrible; the print is way too much and the bow is beyond words. The ankle straps on the shoes totally cut her legs off. And I don't know who styled her hair like that.

Angie looks a little, i don't know, lost in time? This seems like something she would have worn 10/15 years ago. I don't really like it.

Ariel Winter is just doing everything right this year. I love the tea-length dress. It's very girly and classy. I like the sheer pattern over the solid fabric, I think that's always a nice look. The bodice is pretty. A lot of jewels and beading and sparkles! Which always works! And the bust line is very age appropriate. I think that Ariel is a little fashionista in the making and Sarah Hyland should look out.

When Armie Hammer came on the screen I though he look like an honest to God prince. I couldn't quite get the image of his mug shot out of my head though.

I am not a fan of Ashlee Simpson's dress. I didn't really get the sheer netting across the shoulders, and I thought it was too low cut. Her hair and makeup are amazing though! Her hair is seriously so beautiful, I want to copy it. (I still can't even recognize her. And how long ago did she get her nose done? It's a great job, don't get me wrong, but it just doesn't suit her. I think her big crooked nose fit her more.)

I liked the color of Dianna Agron's dress. It's not great, but it is pretty. I don't really like the little piece of fabric hanging down the front; it's a little weird. I like braided hair, but I do think it has it's place, too. It can be done right for the red carpet, but she just looked like a head of frizz on camera.

That blue on Diane Lane looks gorgegous! I love the little jewel at the side.

I'm not such a fan of this color on Ellie Kemper. It kind of washes her out; maybe if she let her hair down. I really do like the slight shimmer without the full out sequin.

That color on Emily Blunt is amazing! So pretty! There are slight differences between the red carpet and the runway. The color for one, but I really like both. The little poof at the shoulder and the slit, I think, look better of her. All the rouching on the bodice definitely is better on the runway though. Why is not on Emily's gown?

Emma Stone looks so frickin adorable! OMG, I love it! The skirt is a thing of perfection.

Giuliana Rancic's dress is pretty, I really like the drape-y look at the bottom of the skirt. I do not like the amulet thing at her neck. It almost seems a little out of place.

Glenn Close looks pretty, but I can't really tell what that color is. Is it blue or black? I really do love the mermaid tail on anything! The sleeves of this dress are very pretty.

Jayma Mayes was a little sparkle overload. Which is saying a lot for me. I think the back should have been open more. I think it would be very interesting if the back was all sparkle, but the front was totally matte.

Judy Greer! She is just awesome! Great dress, looks a little vintage-y. The bag is just wrong though.

Jenna Ushkowitz looks only okay. It could have been a pretty dress is the white fabric went all the way down with the rest of it.

Jenna Fischer's dress is amazing. The details at the waist and sleeve are so pretty. That being said it is way too old for her. I would like to see Meryl Streep wearing this.

I'm not a fan of Julianna Margulies' look here. It looks pilly.

This color is amazing on Julie Bowen. I don't like the dress though. I think it just looks baggy, especially in the back.

I'm half and half with Kaley Cuoco's dress. The bodice is pretty. I really wish the dress had a shorter hemline. That is just too much of that particular fabric and texture. And her hair looks a bit messy.

I like Kelly Osbourne's dress a lot. The neckline and sleeves are beautiful. I don't get the thing hanging from the waist though. I wish that weren't there.

I hate this color Kristin Wigg chose. It's so drab. I don't like this thing of the super baggy bodices. And that choker is just disgusting.

Kyra Sedwick looks great. This dress is very sexy, and it first her wonderfully.

I'm starting to feel like Lea Michelle is starting to just try too hard. It almost looks like she's wearing lingerie with a train.

I didn't know Maya Rudolph was so boobalicious. I like the dress on the model, it looks like there's more detailing on the bodice.

I liked Michelle William's look. Red is a good color for almost anyone. I don't like the neckline that much. Everyone was talking about the hemline, that it was weird and sloppy and uneven. I don't buy into that though. I think it's sexy.

I don't like this dress on Natalie Portman. The color is much too dark for her. And the bustline looks uneven, it makes her look very disproportionate.

Naya Rivera looks beautiful! Great color, great shine, great pattern, great neckline.

I like the top of Octavia Spencer's dress, I really like how the sleeves turn sheer. Other than that, not so great. It kind of looks like a bath towel wrapped around her waist.

I really like all the ruffles and tulle on Regina King's dress and the mermaid tail gets a thumbs up from me. I like the color, but not at all with her skin tone.

Rose Byrn took a risk on this red carpet and it totally paid off. I seriously loved it!!

I was pretty underwhelmed with Sarah Hyland this time around. Just kind of plain and didn't stand out at all.

I like Shailene Woodley dress, I do. And maybe she chose this pattern in honor of her movie. I don't think it's right for the red carpet at all. It would be very pretty strolling along the beach or whatever vacation spot.

Sofia Vergara always looks great, doesn't she? The color is so pretty! The dress fits her so well! Her makeup looks great too, her eyes totally stand out. And those earrings are something else.

Stacy Keibler's dress is amazing! I love it. The lace detailing is so pretty. I love the neckline.

I like the white/black effect on the bust of Tina Fey's dress. I don't think this dress is very flattering on her.

Jane Krakowski looks like she only got part way dressed. I looks like she forgot to cover up her sex clothes.

I kinds of go back and forth every time I see Ty Burnell. It's definitely not traditional, but it's somewhat charming on him. Idk.

It looks like Viola Davis knows how to dress her body. She got great cleavage without popping out, and those colors look amazing on her. The gold on the bodice is so pretty! And it's just enough, not over-powering.

I hate Zoe Saldana's dress! It looks like she's wearing a wife beater under this pretty sheer top. And the skirt looks plastic. It's just a bad look.

Stars shining bright above you.

The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank
non-fiction, journal
3/5    -worth the read

Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank's remarkable diary has since become a world classic—a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a thirteen-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed to the Gestapo, they and another family lived cloistered in the "Secret Annex" of an old office building. Cut off from the outside world, they faced hunger, boredom, the constant cruelties of living in confined quarters, and the ever-present threat of discovery and death. In her diary Anne Frank recorded vivid impressions of her experiences during this period. By turns thoughtful, moving, and amusing, her account offers a fascinating commentary on human courage and frailty and a compelling self-portrait of a sensitive and spirited young woman whose promise was tragically cut short.
----

Honestly I didn’t think much while reading this. It just seemed like a pointless journal, but it really affected me. I finished reading a few minutes ago and I can’t even put my thoughts into words. Yeah, it was just a girl’s journal and you don’t even realize at the time that these were real things and real problems and real people.

How to Ruin a Summer Vacation, Simone Elkeles
2/5     -nothing special
angst, beach read, coming of age,
family, love, teeny bopper

Moshav? What’s a moshav? Is it “shopping mall” in Hebrew? I mean, from what Jessica was telling me, Israeli stores have the latest fashions from Europe. That black dress Jessica has is really awesome. I know I’d be selling out if I go with the Sperm Donor to a mall, but I keep thinking about all the great stuff I could bring back home.

Unfortunately for 16-year-old Amy Nelson, “moshav” is not Hebrew for “shopping mall.” Not even close. Think goats, not Gucci.

Going to Israel with her estranged Israeli father is the last thing Amy wants to do this summer. She’s got a serious grudge against her dad, a.k.a. “Sperm Donor,” for showing up so rarely in her life. Now he’s dragging her to a war zone to meet a family she’s never known, where she’ll probably be drafted into the army. At the very least, she’ll be stuck in a house with no AC and only one bathroom for seven people all summer—no best friend, no boyfriend, no shopping, no cell phone…

Goodbye pride—hello Israel.
----Simone Elkeles is my guilty pleasure. I think the Perfect Chemistry books are..well...perfect. I was pretty disappointed with this. I didn't like Amy. Or any of the characters really, but it's so important to like the main character. She came off as a brat to me. I think there should have been more of a storyline between her and her dad. That was the whole point of the trip, was it not? And she just ditched him to go off with the other kids... I didn't believe the relationship between Amy and Avi either. It kind of came out of nowhere.

Final Salute: A Story of Unfinished Lives, Jim Sheeler
3/5      -worth the read
non-fiction, essays

Based on his Pulitzer Prize-winning story, Jim Sheeler's unprecedented look at the way our country honors its dead; Final Salute Is a stunning tribute to the brave troops who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan and to the families who continue to mourn them.

They are the troops that nobody wants to see, carrying a message that no military family ever wants to hear. It begins with a knock at the door. "The curtains pull away. They come to the door. And they know. They always know," said Major Steve Beck.

Since the start of the war in Iraq, marines like Major Beck found themselves thrown into a different kind of mission: casualty notification. It is a job Major Beck never asked for and one for which he received no training. They are given no set rules, only impersonal guidelines.

Marines are trained to kill, to break down doors, but casualty notification is a mission without weapons. For Beck, the mission meant learning each dead marine's name and nickname, touching the toys they grew up with and reading the letters they wrote home. He held grieving mothers in long embraces, absorbing their muffled cries into the dark blue shoulder of his uniform. He stitched himself into the fabric of their lives, in the simple hope that his compassion might help alleviate at least the smallest piece of their pain. Sometimes he returned home to his own family unable to keep from crying in the dark.

In Final Salute, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Jim Sheeler weaves together the stories of the fallen and of the broken homes they have left behind. It is also the story of Major Steve Beck and his unflagging efforts to help heal the wounds of those left grieving. Above all, it is a moving tribute to our troops, putting faces to the mostly anonymous names of our courageous heroes, and to the brave families who have made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Final Salute is the achingly beautiful, devastatingly honest story of the true toll of war. After the knock on the door, the story has only begun

Crossed (Matched #2), Ally Condie
3/5     -worth the read
adventure, alternate views,
angst, dystopia, love

In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.

Cassia's quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander - who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia's heart - change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.

----
** spoiler alert ** I'm doubting these characters and I really don't like it. I feel this tension between Ky and Indie, and how attached Cassia is to Xander is worrisome. I wonder about the 'he' Cassia refers to at the end.

I find it a little hard to believe that Ky would just give in and go to the society. I never did think that they would go they're separate ways, but I really did think that it would be Cassia who gave in.

City of Glass (Mortal Instruments #3), Cassandra Clare
5/5         -just wonderful
adventure, alternate views, angst, love, urban fantasy

To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters -- never mind that enter-ing the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadow-hunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadow-hunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City -- whatever the cost?
----

** spoiler alert ** Part one: Sebastion is Clary's brother, not Jace. Has to be. I refuse to accept that Jace is her brother. Anyway, Clary had this vague recollection of Sebastion right from the beginning. I began to hope. Then with what the angel showed her, that Valentine gave his son demon blood, it totally explained Sebastion's reaction when Clary rejected him.

I always get so sad when I read about Clary and Jace's intimate moments.

Part two: Why aren't we more involved with Max? He's a shadowhunter child, but he doesn't seem to be get any education or training. Isabelle got her whip at 8 years old, so it should seem like we should be getting a little bit more of Max's story. They're always protecting him and treating him like he's nothing, and it's right that a 10 year old boy shouldn't be out fighting demons. But he should at lest know how to do the ruins and somewhat protect himself. I don't even think he has a witchlight.

Yes, I cried. There's something about Jace that just tugs at my heart. He's so broken and abused and he's been so used. He thinks he's a bad person and he deserves whatever shit is thrown at him. I just want to jump through the pages of this book and give him the longest hug ever recorded by mankind.

I am so confident that fake Sebastion is the real Jonathon it's crazy. Everything I just read about Clary and Jace made me cry because I know that they are not brother and sister and Jace is not a monster.

I'm worried that know that Jace and Clary can be together I won't be interested anymore. That there's no more angst they're just going to be boring. I will always be interested in Jace's story though.

What Happened to Goodbye, Sarah Dessen
3/5     -worth the read
angst, coming of age, family, social issues

Another town. Another school. Another Mclean. Ever since her parents' bitter divorce, Mclean and her father have been fleeing their unhappy past. And Mclean's become a pro at reinventing herself with each move. But in Lakeview, Mclean finds herself putting down roots and making friends—in part, thanks to Dave, the most real person Mclean's ever met. Dave just may be falling in love with her, but can he see the person she really is? Does Mclean herself know?
----

I liked reading this.

I was left thinking that everything just worked out too perfectly. I didn't really buy it.

I also had a problem believing that any court would award a father who constantly traveled and had no stable lifestyle custody of a teenage girl, while her mother, with a permanent home and family, was a much more balanced and reliable option.

I don't care that I'm not Jewish, I want to be married under a hoopa.

I don't really like cake...would it be wrong to serve donuts at my wedding?

Very cute idea for center pieces.

I don't like that cake at all, I think it's horrible. I do, however, very much like that cake plate.

Let's just keep on dancing.

My brother, sister, and I are pretty paranoid about our iPods breaking. And with that losing our entire music collection. We all decided to make a list of every song on our iPod. I don't know what my brother is up to, but I know that when my sister's iPod broke her list was up to Avril. That's it! All of her music..just gone. So I'm resuming my list out of sheer boredom. So here we go...

My first iPod was a little red nano and I loved him. His name was Bruce, after Bruce Willis. When I outgrew him he was passed down to my sister, and when she outgrew him he went to my dad. My brother's iPod's name is Hermes, that's Uncle Jesse's real name. My sister's firs iPod was Fritz. Also my grandpa's name, but she said it wasn't named after him, she just likes the name. I understand that because my iPod's name is Carlisle. He's not named after the Twilight character, but all the Cullens have such fantastic names. My sister's brand new iPod is Kevin.

Dream a good one tonight.

This week's Entertainment Weekly has possibly the greatest article that I've ever seen in the magazine. All about shippers; who they are and what they think and want and fan favorite ships and definitions. Shipper wars and smooshing, fanfic, crossovers, mary sue, slashers. I was so happy when I saw this article flipping through the pages of EW.

(Ian Somerhalder is naked on the cover, too.)

American Pickers is kind of my new show. My dad watches it, and it's not horrible. I haven't watched it all that much, but it's a crazy show. These two guys travel around looking basically for hoarders. They go through all this stuff, weird weird stuff that people just collect over the years. They buy what they think they can re-sell. Signs are a huge thing, Mickey Mouse or Cocoa Cola stuff always sells, one guy has a think for bikes. I saw one where this guy claimed to have a dinosaur bone, and Mike wanted it. So they're negotiating through the whole show and their arguing about it and I'm yelling at the tv that it's not real. He ended up buying it and he brought it to some paleontologist, the bone was real! I couldn't even believe it! This Joe Schmoe in the middle of Kentucky had a frickin dinosaur bone sitting in his shed for twenty years!

OMG! Britney and Shakira are collaborating! So awesome!

I've pretty much given up on Criminal Minds. There was a point, a couple years ago, that I really liked the show. I would watch all the re-runs and the marathons. I'm over it now, all I see now is way too melodramatic and always the same with absolutely no character development or back stories. I watch tv with my dad like all the time, and that's exactly why he likes the show. So in the last episode when Morgan came out of Garcia's shower and she had no memory of the night before...I was super excited! And so disappointed to find out that nothing happened between them.

I was watching Downton Abbey and my sister was complaining how boring it was. There was a scene towards the end (Spoiler alert!) Matthew and Mary were talking after Lavina's funeral, my sister asked why the picture suddenly went black and white. I had to laugh!! They're just wearing black and are very pale!

I was pretty impressed with the last Fringe. It was totally back to basics; a stand alone, freaky episode with just Olivia, Peter, and Walter. Blue-verse even really broke in there a few times! It seemed like OurOlivia again at moments! But there was one moment that stood out to me of not being anything like the Olivia I know and love. She said that she was scared that whatever was happening to the people of that town was happening to her. All I could think of the whole time was that Olivia Dunham would never so easily admit to being scared. Of course I wonder if the ending was too good to be true.
